Continental Hunts
These group hunts are a favorite at Quail
Mountain. They are very fast paced hunts that put a lot of lead in
the air and require little walking, mostly shooting. A continental
hunt is a tower hunt with 8 stations surrounding the central tower,
maximum 2 hunters per station. The central tower is approximately ten
feet off of the ground and a pellet blocking wall about 8 feet tall
surrounds the tower platform. From here, 9 pheasants and 3 chukar per
hunter are tossed into the air and the birds fly away from the tower
towards the stations. Stations are approximately 75 feet away, in a
circle, from the tower. A new bird is released about every 15-20
seconds. Hunters fire at the birds from their stations when birds fly
in their direction. The stations are also protected by a pellet
barrier wall for the hunters’ safety.
Halfway through the hunt, a refreshment break
will take place and the dogs will retrieve the birds shot by the
hunters up to this point. Hunters will also be given a chance to
restock their ammunition as they are likely running low by this time.
After about 10-15 minutes, the hunt will resume and at the end, the
dogs will finish retrieving the birds and everyone will return to the
main house while the birds are being cleaned and packaged. Hunters
are assured 5 pheasant and 1 chukar each to take home regardless of
the number harvested or who actually shot them.
If your group purchases the deluxe continental, a
scrumptious game dinner will be waiting on you when you return from
the hunt (or before for afternoon hunts) while your birds are being
cleaned. Before the hunt begins, you will be given a chance to warm
up on our target range as well as invited to join us for a social hour
after the hunt.
Continental hunts require a minimum of 8 hunters
and have a maximum of 16. They can be arranged at any time, but are
the only hunts at Quail Mountain that require a deposit. A
non-refundable deposit of $50/hunter is required for these hunts due
to the fact that we may have to turn away some hunts due to the number
of necessary farm personnel needed to arrange these hunts.
Please see our pricing guide for more information
on these hunts.
